Zamfara State governor Dauda Lawal, reported that his administration has achieved significant progress in combating insecurity, stressing that the terror of bandits has been crippled.
The comments by the governor followed a State Executive Council meeting on Monday, October 20, where the governor claimed a substantial reduction in criminal activity across the northwestern state.
Zamfara State has historically been one of the regions worst affected by protracted banditry, cattle rustling, and mass abductions in the northwest region. These criminal activities have disrupted farming, commerce, and daily life, leading to massive displacement and humanitarian concerns.
Zamfara State government claims success in its operations, pointing out to the reduction in the fear of bandit attacks and the restoration of calm in communities.
However, security analysts often stress that a sustainable solution requires consistent evidence of the dismantling of bandit supply chains and command structures, as temporary lulls in attacks have been observed in the past.
