The Kaduna State School Feeding Programme since its inception has provided meals to over 730,000 children every day, supporting over 7,000 local women and farmers.

According to Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, Special Assistant to the Governor on the programme, this program creates jobs for more than 7,000 women who work as cooks, and it boosts the local economy by buying food from farmers in the region.

Governor Uba Sani launched the programme to improve child nutrition, encourage more children to attend school, and help build the local economy. The scheme receives more than N4 billion in funding each year, with over 3,400 schools participating.

Dr. Buhari-Ado explained that each meal served is more than just food, but a symbol of hope and care. The programme empowers women financially and guarantees a steady demand for local farmers’ produce.

It also tackles barriers to education by motivating children to stay in school. Dr. Buhari-Ado called on governments and partners everywhere to work together to end hunger in Africa.
