President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered a powerful national address marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, stressing on the administration’s achievements and calling for unity and collective effort to build a prosperous future.

In his speech, President Tinubu reflected on Nigeria’s progress since gaining independence in 1960, noting advancements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic diversity. He mentioned the recent 4.23% growth in Nigeria’s GDP in the second quarter of 2025, the highest in four years, and the decline in inflation to 20.12% as evidence of the country’s economic recovery.

The President mentioned the tough but necessary reforms his administration implemented, including ending corrupt fuel subsidies, rationalizing foreign exchange rates, and boosting non-oil revenue collections, which have exceeded N20 trillion in 2025. These reforms have freed up funds to invest in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, national security, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

President Tinubu praised the security agencies in their joint efforts in combating Boko Haram, IPOB/ESN insurgents, and banditry, resulting in peace returning to many communities in the North-East and North-West regions.

He addressed the nation’s youth directly, urging them to dream big and contribute innovatively to science, technology, sports, and the creative industries.

The government’s support initiatives, such as NELFUND for student loans, Credicorp for affordable loans, and the YouthCred consumer credit scheme for NYSC members, were also outlined as ways to empower young Nigerians.

Let us be a nation of producers, not just consumers. Let us farm our land and build factories to process our produce…with Almighty God on our side, I can assure you that the dawn of a new, prosperous, self-reliant Nigeria is here – President Tinubu

The President called for cooperation across all levels of government and society to maintain the positive momentum, ensuring that the gains made translate into real improvements in citizens’ lives.

This 65th Independence Anniversary address was a message of hope, resilience, and a call to action for every Nigerian to contribute to the country’s path towards lasting growth and unity.
