The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano has officially removed Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, representative of Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, from its positions due to alleged opposition to party interests and failure to settle financial commitments. The announcement was made on Saturday by the party’s Kano chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa.

The ruling came shortly after Jibrin hinted at the possibility of leaving the NNPP. He expressed a readiness to switch allegiance to parties such as APC, PDP, ADC, or PRP.

Anything might happen, I could leave NNPP or even return to APC, PDP, ADC, PRP, or any place I choose. When I make my decision, everyone will be informed. I am capable of deciding my future – Jibrin

Dungurawa criticized Jibrin, asserting his political strength is overstated and dependent largely on the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform rather than personal merit. The chairman argued that Jibrin’s previous attempts to win under APC failed and only through the NNPP did he secure his seat in the House of Representatives.

The Kano party leader revealed that Jibrin has repeatedly targeted the party and its leadership via media outlets, actions deemed detrimental to party unity. The former lawmaker has failed to remit required party fees for some time. The party intends to kick start legal proceedings to claim the outstanding payments as per constitutional party regulations.
