Nigeria continuously struggles with uneven healthcare access, especially in rural and underserved regions where millions take arduous journeys to visit health facilities. This daunting reality underlines one of the country’s biggest public health challenges, including its outsized burden of malaria-related fatalities.

The recently launched Care365 Health Hub seeks to bridge this gap through a combination of smart technology and mobile medical solutions.

The event gathered former leaders, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Goodluck Jonathan, who emphasized the urgent need to make quality healthcare a fundamental right, not a privilege.

Its key components include the Care365 Health Monitoring Kiosk, a self-service device capable of performing instant vital checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, and oxygen saturation, as well as mobile clinics designed to reach remote communities. Seamless virtual consultations via the Care365 telemedicine app and a global network of specialist doctors further enhance healthcare delivery.

Former President Obasanjo lamented that millions of Nigerians continue to lose preventable lives due to lack of access, stressing that healthcare should never be a luxury reserved for cities or the wealthy.

It is no longer acceptable that in today’s age of technology, a Nigerian child should die of malaria simply because her family cannot afford to travel to the nearest clinic. This is a failure of leadership and empathy – Obasanjo

He expressed hope that this digital breakthrough would fundamentally alter this narrative by making vital medical services more inclusive.

Abdulsalami Abubakar states that these concerns, describing Nigeria’s medical infrastructure as “grossly inadequate.” He stressed the imperative for collaborative efforts encompassing governmental agencies and other stakeholders to support and expand such revolutionary health programs.

Goodluck Jonathan states the transformative potential of technology, advocating for Nigerian youths to leverage their skills towards positive innovations like Care365. He recalled the tragic loss of a close associate due to delays in obtaining accurate diagnoses abroad, suggesting that such digital health platforms could prevent similar occurrences while curbing the country’s reliance on medical tourism.

Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, unveiled a comprehensive four-pillar strategy to overhaul Nigeria’s healthcare system. Central to this plan is the integration of projects such as Care365 within primary care and emergency networks to scale affordable health coverage and improve service delivery. Pate also sees the health sector as an economic opportunity capable of driving job creation and industrial growth through private-sector collaboration.

Ngozi Odumuko, the visionary CEO behind Care365, explained that the model draws inspiration from advanced healthcare systems in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., aiming to ensure affordability, quality, and accessibility for every Nigerian citizen.

The official launch of Care365 is not just the debut of a new healthcare platform, but the beginning of a nationwide effort to transform health service delivery in Nigeria. This health infrastructure is a beam of hope for a future where quality medical care is within reach for all citizens, regardless of geography or income, with the backing of influential leaders and a clear strategy for integration and scale.
