The Plateau State Government has continued to attract international attention as it recently hosted high-level delegations from the United States and the European Union, signaling growing global interest in partnering with the state on investment, peacebuilding, and development.

On Friday, the government received a United States delegation led by Ambassador Dr. Linda Kaleidoscope at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos. The visit focused on exploring investment opportunities across key sectors such as agriculture, education, tourism, and initiatives targeted at women and children, under the theme “Dream Plateau, Change Plateau.”

Receiving the delegation on behalf of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, expressed appreciation for choosing Plateau as an investment destination. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to partnerships that promote innovation, sustainable development, and democratic dividends for the people.

Discussions during the meeting centered on possible areas of collaboration, with top government officials in attendance, including the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Mohammed Nyalum; Commissioner for Education, Dr. Kachallom Gang; Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Arc Sylvanus Dontoe; and Commissioner for Health, Hon. Nicholas Ba’amlong.

In a related development, a European Union delegation in collaboration with the international peacebuilding organisation, Search for Common Ground, paid a working visit to the Plateau State Government to explore avenues for peace and development initiatives.

The delegation, led by Ms. Gift Omoniwa, Acting Country Director of Search for Common Ground, included Mr. Ruben Alba (EU Team Lead), Winifred Achu (EU Programme Manager), and other officials. The visit evaluated the EU-funded IRENEW project, which has fostered interfaith harmony and youth engagement across the state’s 17 local government areas. The initiative also gave rise to the Plateau State Youth Interfaith Forum (PYIF), in partnership with the Plateau State Peacebuilding Agency.

Commissioner Ramnap, who received the EU team, reiterated the Mutfwang administration’s unwavering commitment to peace through platforms such as the Plateau State Advisory Council on Interreligious Harmony, the Plateau State Peacebuilding Agency, and Operation Rainbow.

Mr. Ruben Alba assured of the EU’s continued support for peacebuilding and expressed interest in enhancing agriculture, ICT, and infrastructure development in the state.

The visits by the U.S. and EU delegations reaffirm Plateau’s growing profile as a partner of choice for global engagement in peace, development, and economic transformation.
