The Zamfara State Police Command has apprehended eight individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities across the state, including a 50-year-old alleged bandit and two informants.
The arrests are part of the command’s continued operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating within the region.
During a press briefing in Gusau, the state capital, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed that the suspects include Ibrahim Mohammed, identified as a notorious bandit from Maru Local Government Area, along with a suspected gun runner and five others. He noted that these arrests were made possible through actionable intelligence provided by concerned citizens.
Abubakar disclosed that several items were recovered during the operations, including assorted rifles, a Toyota Corolla, a stolen ATM card, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp. He commended the collaboration between the police and the local communities, describing it as crucial to the success of the ongoing security efforts.
He reiterated the command’s resolve to rid Zamfara of banditry and other criminal threats, stating, “We remain committed to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.”
