Tottenham Hotspur have made a bold start to the Thomas Frank era, completing the high-profile signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and activating the release clause of Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.

The double deal, reportedly worth £115 million, signals the club’s aggressive push under new leadership as they prepare for a return to Champions League football.

Kudus, who arrives from West Ham in a £55 million move, is the first player in over a decade to make the direct switch between the London rivals. Spurs moved quickly to secure his services, with the Ghana international citing the lure of top-tier European competition and Thomas Frank’s reputation for nurturing talent as key motivators.

“I have always wanted to play at the highest level,” Kudus told Tottenham’s official website. “The most important part of why I came here is the project and how the manager sees that I can develop under him. I’ve seen the amount of talent he’s developed into great players, and that was a big sign for me.”

Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to follow closely behind, after Tottenham triggered his £60 million buyout clause at Nottingham Forest. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is poised to become the club’s second marquee arrival, bringing versatility and flair to Frank’s new-look squad.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax for £38 million in 2023, made a significant impact in his time with the Hammers, scoring 19 goals in 80 appearances. Last season, he contributed seven goals and ten assists in the Premier League, emerging as a creative force and catching the eye of England’s coaching setup.

The double swoop marks a major statement by Tottenham as they look to build on recent success. Former manager Ange Postecoglou guided the team to a Europa League triumph over Manchester United in Bilbao, ending a 17-year trophy drought and clinching Champions League qualification before departing unexpectedly last month.

Meanwhile, Forest are reeling from successive high-profile exits. Gibbs-White’s departure follows closely on the heels of Anthony Elanga’s imminent £55 million move to Newcastle. Gibbs-White, who joined from Wolves in 2022, originally cost Forest £25 million with performance-based add-ons that could have lifted the deal to £42.5 million.
