A House of Representatives aspirant for the Zango-Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Hon. Sylvester Anthony (popularly known as Brando), has commended the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for the introduction of the free Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bus service for civil servants and students across the state.
Speaking in a statement issued on Sunday, Hon. Anthony described the initiative as a timely intervention aimed at cushioning the effects of the current economic hardship on citizens, particularly low-income earners and school children.
According to him, the CNG-powered buses will not only provide relief from soaring transportation costs but also promote cleaner energy alternatives in line with global environmental standards.
“The decision of Governor Uba Sani to roll out free CNG-powered buses for civil servants and students is highly commendable. It shows responsive and people-oriented leadership. At a time when transportation costs are weighing heavily on the average Nigerian, this initiative offers much-needed relief,” Anthony said.
He further urged the state government to consider sustaining and expanding the scheme to reach more communities, especially rural areas that often suffer neglect in public transportation planning.
While praising the innovative step, the House of Reps hopeful also called on other subnational governments to emulate Kaduna State by implementing practical and sustainable solutions that directly impact the lives of citizens.
Governor Uba Sani had earlier announced that the free transport service, which is part of the Kaduna Subsidized Transport Scheme (KSTS), would run for an initial 10-day period, targeting civil servants, primary and secondary school students.
The state government said the initiative was part of broader measures to ease economic pressure, improve access to public services, and support the state’s green energy transition.
