At least seven people have been confirmed dead following a violent attack on Mushere community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred Tuesday night and is believed to be linked to previous clashes in the area. Sources indicate the violence stemmed from a failed kidnap attempt and the killing of a pastor on Monday, followed by a retaliatory assault on a Fulani settlement.
A local youth leader, identified only as Dafang, explained the sequence of events: “After the attack, the people of the area wanted to go and bury the victims when the assailants launched another attack, which got people scampering for cover.”
He added that security agencies were promptly contacted and subsequently mobilized to the scene.
When reached for comment, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, said: “He is yet to get the details of the attack, but would get back with detailed facts.”
Why would fulani herdsmen aways be the problem of plateau State, killing innocent people, burning houses and displacing people from their homes?
Please am calling on the plateau State Government and security to declare fulani herdsmen in general “fulani” as terrorist for peace to rent on the plateau.
