Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on leaders and citizens across the North to unite and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Shettima made the appeal on Monday while receiving a delegation from the Arewa for Tinubu (A4A) political support group at the Presidential Villa. He stated that the second-term agenda of the administration will bring prosperity and stability for the region.
The Vice President stated that the North has secured massive interventions in agriculture, federal appointments, and infrastructure from the administration. He disclosed that out of the N450 billion disbursed by the Bank of Agriculture to 700,000 smallholder farmers, 70 percent of the beneficiaries are from the northern states.
“Let’s unite as a people and work for the development of our region and the progress of our people through the re-election of this administration. We are benefiting and we stand to benefit more from this government in many ways. I can assure you that the president loves the north and the president will work for the north,” Shettima stated.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the organisation’s Board of Trustees and former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, assured that the think tank will consolidate its structures to replicate its 2023 electoral success.
The Director-General of the group, Abubakar Badaru, added that the organisation has mapped out strategies for extensive grassroots mobilisation. He stated that the group will commence consultations with religious clerics, traditional rulers, and other prominent stakeholders to secure maximum support for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.
The meeting attracted several former governors, including Joshua Dariye, Simon Lalong, Jolly Nyame, Yahaya Bello, Ibrahim Shema, and Isa Yuguda, alongside the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd).
