The Federal Government has filed fresh criminal charges against the Director-General of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi.

The new charges were instituted before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, prompting Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja to officially strike out the initial case on Monday.

The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), informed the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation had reviewed the case file previously prepared by the Inspector-General of Police.

Oyedepo explained that the jurisdictional review revealed that the alleged forgery offences committed during the operations of the phantom agency can only be prosecuted at the FCT High Court, rather than the Federal High Court.

“A new charge has been filed at the High Court of the FCT and he will be expeditiously arraigned afresh”, Oyedepo stated.

Defence counsel to the accused, Ibrahim Angulu (SAN), raised no objections to the prosecution’s request, leading to the termination of the proceedings. Adeyemi was previously standing trial alongside two fleeing defendants on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy and forgery.
