Security forces successfully repelled an insurgent attack on a police outpost guarding the Dangote Cement Factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on Sunday night.
While one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) was killed in the line of duty, the military reported that the attackers suffered casualties before retreating.
Although the insurgents managed to evacuate their own casualties, they were unable to seize any weapon or penetrate the main factory grounds.
Dawn Herald gathered that the attack was a reprisal of a recent military operation in the region that reportedly neutralized over 200 insurgents.
They came in their numbers, all hooded, to avenge the heavy blow they suffered where over 200 of them were killed. They were successfully repelled – A security officer disclosed
As at the time this report was published, the Police have not issued a statement on actions to be taken to apprehend the perpetrators.
