Renowned Nigerian-American author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, have reportedly lost one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi.
Dawn Herald gathered that the 21-month-old child passed away on Wednesday, January 7, after a brief illness.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a global literary icon and author of Americanah and Half of a Yellow Sun, is known for maintaining a strictly private family life.
In February 2025, Chimamanda revealed she had welcomed twin boys in April 2024 via surrogacy, adding to her family which includes a nine-year-old daughter.
Chimamanda has previously spoken about the challenges of balancing her career with motherhood, especially at the age of 47. She shares the story of her surrogacy journey in 2025 to reduce the stigma surrounding non-traditional paths to motherhood in Nigeria and globally.
