The Nigerian Police have arrested a former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.

The former governor was tracked and apprehended on Monday night at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja. The arrest was executed after Okorocha reportedly evaded multiple invitations from law enforcement agencies regarding an ongoing probe.

According to the police, he was initially summoned to the Force Headquarters on September 2. The appointment was subsequently rescheduled to September 8 at the request of his legal counsel, a date he later failed to honour.

Speaking to Channels Television on the development, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, disclosed that he was later released on administrative bail after an interrogation which lasted for about an hour and was asked to return to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for interrogation as investigations into the allegations continue.
