The Kebbi State Police Command has announced a series of successful operations conducted between December 21 and 26, 2025, which led to the arrest of several suspects linked to kidnapping and the illegal possession of firearms.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bashar Usman, recounted on victories in several local government areas (LGAs) in the state. In Danko/Wasagu LGA, Iliya D. Bano was arrested for allegedly threatening the village head of Yar Ali and another resident. He reportedly demanded a ₦500,000 ransom to prevent their abduction. Danisa Yakub was apprehended after demanding ₦1 million from a resident of Koliko village. During interrogation, he confessed to involvement in previous kidnapping cases in the region.
In Kalgo LGA, three suspects, Aliyu Muhammad Sambawa, Salihu Haruna, and Suleiman Isah, were found in possession of ten locally fabricated firearms.
Commissioner of Police CP Bello Sani emphasized that these successes are not isolated incidents but a proactive policing strategy to mop up illicit weapons before the 2026 budget cycle begins.

All suspects currently in custody are cooperating with investigators. The police are tracking the accomplices, who are on the run.
