The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has terminated the appointments of all 30 of his Special Advisers. The decision was announced on Tuesday during the governor’s maiden Council meeting with his newly sworn-in commissioners, to restructure his administration.
Governor Bago, who assumed office in May 2024, has been pushing the New Niger Agenda focused on transforming the state through urban renewal, agricultural mechanization, infrastructural development, including the Bago Electrifying Niger Agenda, and governance reforms.
According to a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, the termination is an internal strategy aimed to rejig and reposition their portfolios to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency in delivering on the vision of the administration.
The statement by the Governor appreciates the aides for their sacrifices and contributions, but stressed that a New Niger requires a focused and highly performing team.
Nigerians, particularly the people of Niger state, are waiting for the announcement of the replacement of the 30 aides by the Governor and also a well detailed explanation of their wrongdoings.
