The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor in Kwara State accused of transporting medical supplies from Sokoto State to bandits operating in the region.
The arrest was confirmed by the Kwara State Government on Friday, who stated that the suspect was intercepted in the Jebba area of Moro Local Government Area. According to security operatives, the kidnapping groups are desperate for medical care following gunshot wounds sustained in recent clashes with security forces.
The doctor was reportedly moving drugs from Sokoto State and delivering it to bandits in their hideout in the forest in Kwara state.
The operation was launched with the knowledge that many bandits have been wounded during encounters with the security agencies, making the demand for medical treatment critical for their survival.
The Kwara State Government lauded the security agencies for their commitment in fighting bandits and flushing out criminal elements out of the state.
