First Lady’s disburses N64 m to persons with disabilities in Sokoto

The First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, marked World Disability Day by announcing the disbursement of N64 million to persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in Sokoto State under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

The First Lady, represented by the wife of the State Governor, Fatima Aliyu, announced the grant at an event on Wednesday. The funding is intended to foster long-term economic independence and empower this vulnerable population group nationwide.

The programme is designed to create long-term economic independence for Nigerians with disabilities. It is worth noting that over the past two years, the Renewed Hope Initiative has supported over 100,000 women, petty traders, and small business owners, including persons living with disabilities, with direct financial grants to grow their businesses – Senator Oluremi Tinubu

The total national commitment for this intervention is N1.9 billion aiming to benefit 9,500 individuals.

The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) is a social intervention program led by the First Lady, aimed towards providing financial grants and support across various sectors, including economic empowerment, agriculture, and health.
