Vice-President Kashim Shettima charged the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a prominent Northern Nigerian socio-cultural group, to support the “Renewed Hope Agenda” administration and also resist attempts by mischief makers to divide the country.

The call for unity comes due to the public frustration over economic hardship and insecurity crisis, particularly in the North.

Shettima made the plea during a meeting with the ACF delegation, led by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Vice-President Shettima, who is a key political figure from the North, utilized this meeting with the ACF, the region’s apex socio-cultural organization, to rally support for the federal government’s policies. The meeting was aimed at addressing genuine grievances, which Shettima said the government promised to address, and to encourage the youth to desist from agitations fueled by selfish gain. The meeting also seeks to unify the North behind President Tinubu’s administration as it implements economic and security reforms.

The Vice-President outlined the focus of the administration on education, agriculture, industrialisation, and security as the primary pillars for the revival and economic repositioning of the Northern region.

The Vice-President, emphasizes that national unity is key for addressing the challenges of the country.

We have proven, time and again, that our diversity is our strength…this is why we must continue to resist all attempts to divide us or stir mischief among us. no group will be marginalized and that government policies are designed to create opportunities for all – Shettima

The ACF’s Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, commended the administration for its bold reforms in tackling key economic and security challenges faced by the region over the years. The ACF plan to hold its forthcoming 25th-anniversary celebration, which will serve as a platform for further deliberation on the development of the region.
