The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State.
The collection period, initially slated to end on October 29, 2025, will now continue until November 2, 2025, ahead of the governorship election scheduled for November 8.
Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s director of voter education and publicity in the state, stated the extension was approved following a commission meeting on Monday after receiving several appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time.
The Anambra State governorship election is highly anticipated, featuring 16 cleared candidates, including high profile candidates such as Charles Soludo (APGA), Ukachukwu Nicholas (APC), and Ezenwafor Jude (PDP).
The INEC official stressed that the collection must be done in person, explicitly forbidding proxy collection, a measure aimed at protecting the integrity of the voting process.
