The Kano State Government has instructed the Hisba Board to prepare for a mass wedding event involving at least 2,000 couples, who face challenges with marriage costs.

‎Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen, Deputy Commander-General of the Kano State Hisba Board, stated that preparations will soon begin for the mass wedding, which has been revived under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration. All registered couples must undergo compulsory medical screening, including tests for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, genotype compatibility, and drugs. Those who fail to complete the screenings will be disqualified from participating.

‎Governor Yusuf’s administration reintroduced the mass wedding program to offer a dignified and affordable marriage option, especially for women whose families cannot afford traditional wedding expenses.

‎Officials will continue to organize and monitor the event to ensure it proceeds smoothly, with hopes to strengthen family values and reduce social ills.

‎Governor Yusuf emphasized that the program aims to encourage healthy marital unions and community wellbeing across Kano.
