The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has pledged to provide medical care and a new home for a couple and their six-month-old infant recently rescued from kidnappers.
The governor made the commitment on Tuesday while visiting the victims, Ahmed Zakka, his wife Nafisah, and their baby, Fatima, at a state government safe house following their discharge from the hospital. The family was abducted on October 6 from their residence in Alrahus Estate, Millennium City, within Chikun Local Government Area.
Their abduction triggered widespread public outrage after the captors released a distress video showing an armed man pointing a rifle at Zakka while he held his crying infant and pleaded with Nigerians to help raise the ₦300 million ransom demand.
Governor Sani stated that their recovery and general well-being will remain a top priority for his administration in the coming months.
“Their ordeal is a painful reminder of the human cost of insecurity and the solemn responsibility we bear to protect lives and restore peace to every community,” the governor said.
The governor thanked President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and all security agencies for their prompt intervention.
Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance against banditry, maintaining that state authorities will deepen their engagement with local communities and security operatives to guarantee a safe environment for all residents.
