First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has been conferred the prestigious traditional title of Sarauniyar Yaki (Warrior Queen) of Akko Emirate in Gombe State.
The honour was bestowed on Thursday by the Lamido Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, recognising her dedication to women and children’s welfare.
The ceremony took place in Akko Emirate and was attended by notable figures including Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo.
During her two-day visit to Gombe, Mrs. Tinubu also plans to launch the Renewed Hope Initiative’s ‘Flow With Confidence’ programme. This menstrual health intervention aims to provide disposable sanitary pads to schoolgirls to promote menstrual hygiene and reduce absenteeism.
Senator Remi expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as inspiring and humbling. She emphasised her commitment to expanding support for the girl-child in education and health sectors, while calling on traditional rulers to help amplify her advocacy and grassroots initiatives.
This accolade is among several traditional titles bestowed on the First Lady since 2023, including “Ugosimba I of Enugu” and “Iya Oba of Ikorodu”. The recognition restates her growing influence and dedication to social causes nationwide.
