The United States government has cautioned Nigerian politicians and public servants involved in corruption that they could face visa suspensions as part of its intensified efforts to promote transparency and good governance.

In a statement shared on its official X social media platform on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria reiterated that corrupt actions will have consequences regardless of an individual’s position or influence.

The diplomatic entity emphasized that combating graft transcends borders and that accountability measures extend to restricting travel privileges for those implicated.

‎Officials described such sanctions as vital tools to encourage ethical conduct and protect democratic institutions.

‎The Embassy also outlined recent apprehensions about fiscal mismanagement, noting that the diversion or misuse of public resources undermines public confidence and exacerbates socio-economic disparities across the nation.
