President Bola Tinubu has fulfilled his $100,000 financial pledge to the Super Falcons after their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Nigerian female national team secured a 10th continental title during the tournament.

According to the National Sports Commission, the players have begun receiving payments of about ₦140 million of the promised reward.

The pledge was made after the team recovered from a two-goal deficit to defeat host nation Morocco in the July 2025 final.

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, expressed gratitude to the President for fulfilling the promise. She described the financial gesture as a welcome recognition of the team’s achievement and their contribution to Nigerian sports.

The Federal Government had earlier delivered a similar $100,000 reward to members of D’Tigress. The national women’s basketball team received the funds after their triumph at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, where Nigeria secured a fifth consecutive continental title.

The National Sports Commission commended President Tinubu for his consistent support for Nigerian athletes.

The Commission stated that the payment has strengthened confidence among athletes and sports administrators by encouraging a culture of reward, accountability, and national pride.
