The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cleared over 3,000 candidates whose academic progress and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation were stalled due to errors in their personal records.

The Registrar, Segun Aina, directed a comprehensive review to resolve the backlog of cases involving candidates who had genuine reasons for seeking corrections.

According to reports, the affected individuals include candidates seeking to update their names after marriage and those who had made typographical errors during registrations.

The board stated that many of these candidates were validly admitted and had not committed any admission-related infractions.

The board has also leveraged the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC) self-service modification portal to harmonise the candidates’ verified identity information.

A senior JAMB official explained that the strategic relationship with NIMC allows Nigerians to correct their data seamlessly without necessarily visiting NIMC offices.

In a related development, JAMB has introduced new procedures to address issues on lost SIM cards, inaccessible phone numbers, and incorrect email addresses. Candidates can now apply for changes to their registered phone numbers and email details, subject to verification by the board.
