The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially commissioned a new pedestrian bridge built by the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja.

The infrastructure is situated along the Abuja Airport Road. The project, which was executed under the leadership of the Senior Pastor of the church, Dr. Paul Enenche, aims to tackle highway fatalities and streamline the pedestrian movement along the Airport Road.

The FCT Minister officiated the handover ceremony on Friday. Dignitaries present at the event included the Benue State Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, alongside senior representatives from the Federal Fire Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

During the commissioning, the Minister stated that leadership across all sectors must be demonstrated through physical contributions that elevate living standards.

He commended the church for moving beyond religious declarations into practical community service.

“Watching the documentary and seeing what you have done, touching lives, not only with your soul, but talking about the welfare of other people, that is leadership,” Wike said.

The Minister revealed that the FCT Administration granted final approval for the 2018 project in February 2026 after a renewed application. He also urged the congregation to acknowledge the efforts of the government where genuine progress is recorded.

Wike assured the congregation of the readiness of the administration to approve subsequent projects that promote public safety. He also announced that the FCT government would consider a 50 per cent financial contribution towards the project.

In his remarks, Dr. Enenche stated that the responsibility of the church extended beyond spiritual ministrations to practical interventions that improve lives.

Dr. Enenche also revealed that the church will fund additional upgrades to the structure without government reimbursement.

“We are not done. Don’t reimburse us. We intend to cover the pedestrian bridge and add a lightning system so it can look like the ones in Canada and Dubai”, Dr. Enenche said.

He urged public office holders to remember that they will ultimately give an account of how they deployed their positions.
