The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has joined the social media platform TikTok to engage with voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso announced his arrival on the platform in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday. The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress stated that the platform will serve as a direct channel to engage supporters with authentic election updates.
“I am on TikTok! I encourage you all to follow me there for authentic information, the latest updates, and exclusive contents directly related to my daily life. Nigeria will be OK. – RMK”.
In a short video attached to the announcement, the politician welcomed users to the account, urging them to turn on their notifications, follow, and actively share his content.
The development follows weeks of strategic political alignments. Kwankwaso and Obi formally joined the NDC in May after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over zoning arrangements. On May 30, the NDC held its national convention, ratifying Obi as the presidential flagbearer and naming Kwankwaso as his running mate.
The joint ticket merges Obi’s national support base with Kwankwaso’s influential Kwankwasiyya movement, which maintains a heavy political presence in Kano and across the northern region.
The party recently inaugurated its National Campaign Council. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson was appointed Chairman, with Obi serving as Co-chairman and Kwankwaso as Co-vice-chairman.
The party also named Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim as the Director-General to coordinate all nationwide campaign activities and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
