President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to perform the lesser Hajj, formally known as Umrah. The Islamic spiritual exercise will allow the President to engage in religious devotion and offer prayers for the nation’s peace, stability, and continued progress.
Before jetting out of the country, President Tinubu is scheduled to officially commission critical military assets recently acquired by the Nigerian Air Force for its operations. The brief inauguration ceremony will hold at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued a formal press statement on Wednesday explaining the objectives of the trip.
“While in Makkah, President Tinubu will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people,” the statement read in part.
According to the Presidency, the president is expected back in the country next week upon the successful completion of the spiritual exercise.
