President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2027 federal budget to the National Assembly before the close of the year.
The Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Anite-Uzoka, confirmed this on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents.
Addressing journalists after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President at the State House in Abuja, the minister stated that technical preparations for the appropriation bill are heavily underway.
“We are working on the budget for 2027, and the intention is to present it before the end of the year,” Dr. Anite-Uzoka.
The minister’s disclosure comes weeks after the Budget Office of the Federation issued a strict Personnel Costs Budget Call Circular on September 4, 2026. Signed by the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu, the directive mandated all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to submit their 2027 personnel cost proposals alongside their official establishment Acts.
This new requirement is a response to the recent discovery of fictitious agencies by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Investigations by the anti-graft agency uncovered several ghost institutions attempting to exploit the federal system.
To block further financial leakages, the Federal Government has officially barred all agencies not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) or the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) from receiving any personnel cost provisions in the 2027 budget.
