Lawyers and supporters watched as former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, kissed his wife at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday.
The former governor embraced his spouse at the court premises moments before he was ordered to open his defence in his ongoing wiretapping trial.
The video footage shows El-Rufai and his wife, who was dressed in a pink-and-cream outfit with matching sunglasses, exchanging a kiss that has since gone viral across social media platforms.

The incident occurred just before the Presiding Judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, dismissed a no-case submission filed by the former governor’s legal team.
Justice Abdulmalik ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) provided sufficient evidence regarding the alleged interception of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu’s phone calls.
The judge subsequently ordered El-Rufai, who is the sole defendant in the charge, to defend himself against the allegations, adjourning the suit to November 25, 2026, to open his defence.
