The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the separate deaths of two minors in Alkaleri and Ganjuwa Local Government Areas of the state.

The arrests follow tragic incidents involving a young boy and a five-year-old girl. In the first case, a 23-year-old woman, Fatima Ibrahim, was apprehended after her stepson died from allegedly consuming a poisoned beverage in Kwaimawa village.

The Command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed that the boy started vomiting uncontrollably shortly after taking the drink on October 16. He battled for his life for eight days at the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe before a medical doctor confirmed him dead on October 24.

In a separate event, a missing five-year-old girl was discovered dead in a small water pit behind Badaromo village on the morning of October 24. Police officers from the Soro Division immediately cordoned off the scene and arrested a 19-year-old man, Sadiku Musa, in connection with the heinous act.

Habib confirmed that both cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for discreet and thorough investigations.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police has vowed to ensure justice for the deceased children. While commiserating with the bereaved families, the State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to pay closer attention to the safety of their wards.
