Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday, December 30.
The announcement was made during a political rally at the Nike Lake Resort Hotel in Enugu, where thousands of Obidients and supporters gathered to witness the transition.
We are ending this year with the hope that in 2026 we will begin a rescue journey… We will resist rigging of elections by every lawful means in 2027 – Peter Obi
The former Anambra State Governor, expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing legal and administrative crises within the Labour Party.
Obi was joined in the defection by several LP members and loyalists who have been at loggerheads with the leadership of the party.
