Israel issue warnings over Christian Genocide in Nigeria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has joined the United States President Donald Trump in condemning  genocide against Christians claims in Nigeria.

In a video released on Wednesday, December 24, Netanyahu singled out Nigeria as a site of ‘Muslim militant displacement’ and attacks that must end now.

‎The persecution of Christians… cannot and must not be tolerated. And Muslim militant displacement and attacks against Christians in Nigeria, that too must end… it must end now – Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister

Netanyahu framed Israel as a global protector of Christians, and the only place in the Middle East where the faith is thriving.

‎Meanwhile, President Trump, after his statement on Christian genocide, has not only re-listed Nigeria for religious freedom violations but has also issued threats of fast and vicious military intervention if the Nigerian government does not act fast to stop the killings, a claim the Nigerian government has dismissed as misinformed and a violation of its sovereignty. As a result of the genocide claims and repeated denial by the Nigerian government, the United States dispatched delegates to Nigeria to investigate and to build a counter terrorism framework to help flush out terrorists in Nigeria.

‎Recall, Dawn Herald reported about a month ago that the U.S. Congressional Delegation, led by Rep. Riley Moore and Mario Díaz-Balart, concluded a fact-finding mission in the Middle Belt, meeting with victims and local bishops in order to build a strategic security framework that may lead to U.S.-led counter-terrorism operations in Nigeria.

‎While some Nigerian church leaders have welcomed the international attention, many domestic security experts fear that foreign military intervention could exacerbate the very violence it intends to stop.
