The Presidency on Thursday, December 25, has dismissed rumors claiming that Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has been replaced as the Chief of Staff to the President. The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed the viral reports as fake news designed to create friction within the administration.
The rumor, which gained massive traction across social media platforms today, claimed Hakeem Muri-Okunola, who is the current Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the President, had been nominated to replace Gbajabiamila.
The Presidency clarified that the internal structure of the office of the president remains unchanged.
Femi Gbajabiamila still remains the Chief of Staff (CoS), managing the President’s official schedule and policy coordination, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola, remain the Principal Private Secretary (PPS), focusing on the personal and administrative logistics of the president.
The Presidency urged media outlets and the public to verify information before sharing, emphasizing on the dangers of the fast growing trend of fake news.
