The United States on Thursday night, launched powerful and deadly airstrikes against ISIS targets in Sokoto State, Nigeria. President Donald Trump, acting as Commander-in-Chief from Mar-a-Lago, announced the mission on Truth Social, describing it as a direct fulfillment of his warning to stop the systematic killing of Christian populations in Nigeria.

The strikes targeted the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which has plagued the Northwest with mass abductions and killings. Dawn Herald gathered that dozens of ISIS terrorists were killed in their camps.
The strikes follow a period of diplomatic pressure, during which the Trump administration designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern and recalled several ambassadors.
U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) confirmed the operation was carried out in collaboration with Nigerian authorities.
The strikes were a response to a surge in extremist violence, including a suspected suicide bombing at a mosque in Maiduguri just 24 hours earlier, which claimed the lives of five people.
President Trump described the strike as “perfect strikes,” stressing that ISIS had been targeting Christians at levels not seen for centuries. He concluded his announcement with “Merry Christmas to all, including the dead terrorists”.
The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth both confirmed the strikes were a result of structured security cooperation and shared intelligence.
Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum… if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was – President Donald Trump
Meanwhile, the Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned there is more to come.
