The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed reports that the party plans to withdraw from the 2027 presidential contest in favour of African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The NDC vice-presidential candidate declared that the ‘OK Ticket’ remains in the race and rejected allegations of working for the ruling APC.
The NDC candidate dismissed accusations from the ADC Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) that his party is acting on behalf of the ruling party, calling on supporters to ignore rumours regarding any planned endorsement or step-down arrangement.
“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria. The OK ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates.”
The former Kano State governor accused the ADC campaign council of resorting to mischief and personal attacks against the NDC leadership rather than marketing its own candidate to the electorate.
He stated that the party has articulated plans to tackle insecurity, economic distress, and decay across the education, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors.
However, the ADC-PCC quickly countered Kwankwaso’s statements, describing his response as a diversionary tactic to obscure his true political allegiances.
