The Imo State Government has sealed a hotel and a private mortuary in the Ngor-Okpala area following a police operation that uncovered decomposed and mutilated corpses under unhygienic conditions.

The operation, led by Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma, was conducted along the Owerri-Aba Expressway to crackdown criminal elements in the region. The properties sealed are owned by a suspect, Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, who is currently at large and has been declared wanted by the police.

The police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, disclosed on Sunday that the operation was launched based on credible intelligence that the properties were being used as a base of operations by kidnappers and other criminal elements.

During the inspection of the private mortuary, authorities discovered decomposed and mutilated corpses in highly unsanitary conditions. These findings led to strong suspicions among officials that the facility was being used for illegal organ-harvesting activities.

On the directive of the State Government, both the hotel and the mortuary in Umuhu Community were immediately sealed.

The police have urged the public to provide any useful information to the nearest police station, to speed up the arrest and the apprehension of the suspects.
