The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully arrested three suspected child traffickers and rescued 17 children of various ages who were allegedly being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other parts of the country.
The suspects were apprehended on November 12, in Zaria following a tip-off regarding the suspicious movement of the children. The police confirmed that the suspects confessed to bringing the children from different locations before their planned transportation.
The arrest was the result of quick police action based on credible intelligence. The arrests occurred on November 12, at approximately 1600hrs (4:00 PM), under the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The three arrested individuals were identified as Musa Shuaibu (21, from Katsina State), Sani Mamman (23, from Katsina State), and Mubarak Ismail (20, from Kano State).
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the children were being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other parts of the country and beyond.
Upon interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to gathering the children from various locations and being in the process of transporting them when they were arrested.
All 17 underage children were confirmed to be in good health and are currently under the care and protection of the police Command.
