The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani,  has warned politicians against politicising the issue of national security, emphasizing that Nigeria’s interests are greater than partisan interests.

Speaking on Friday, November 7, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House during a courtesy visit by top Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS), the governor appealed for patriotism and responsible political conduct.

Governor Uba Sani stressed the need for politicians to distinguish between legitimate criticism of government policies and actions aimed at undermining the country’s stability.

He warned that politicising security matters promotes division and conflict, especially when driven by opposition politicians focusing on selfish gains.

As a governor, I welcome criticism. But those who seek to discredit Nigeria or disturb peace in Kaduna under the guise of opposition are merchants of conflict – Governor Sani

The governor further criticized some political elites who live abroad or whose families reside outside Nigeria yet drive unrest domestically.

These elites in their comfortable homes often send the children of the masses to protest while their own offspring live safely overseas

Governor Sani also condemned those exploiting religion for political purposes;

The elites in the designated residential areas live together peacefully, regardless of ethno-religious differences. Yet, some use religion to sow division, risking innocent lives for political gain

He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, stating that he judges citizens by character rather than religion. He lauded the efforts of the National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, security agency heads, and DSS Director-General Mr Adeola Ajayi for their role in addressing security challenges nationwide.
