Bandits ambush the convoy of lawmaker in Niger State

Suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on the convoy of Jafaru Mohammed Ali, the representative for Borgu/Agwara Federal Constituency, on Sunday along Agwara-Babana road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The attack happened around 1:00 p.m. near Kuble community, as the lawmaker was en route to meet constituents about planned development projects. Witnesses say the convoy ran into a roadblock set up by the gunmen, who opened fire immediately.

Details on the number of casualties remain unclear, but several security personnel assigned to the lawmaker were reportedly injured by gunshots.

Following the attack, soldiers were quickly dispatched to the scene to rescue those affected and transport the wounded to a nearby hospital for medical care.

The Niger State Police Command has not yet released any official statement regarding the incident as at the time this report was written.
