A viral video posted by anti-cultism group Naija Confra has prompted an official investigation by the Imo State Police Command into allegations that some officers in Owerri belong to the notorious Vikings confraternity.

The video, which gained massive traction on social media, shows uniformed officers wearing berets and caps marked with Vikings cult insignia.

Naija Confra accused the officers of openly disgracing the Nigerian Police Force by engaging in cult activities, raising concerns over their ability to police cult-related crimes effectively.

The Imo State Police Command, in response to this allegation, described the conduct as unprofessional and unethical. Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma has ordered a thorough investigation, aimed towards enforcing strict disciplinary action against those involved once the probe concludes.

Naija Confra condemned cultism within security agencies, stating that such affiliations erode public trust and jeopardize safety. The group reiterated its call for rejection of cultism and cautioned against cult-sponsored donations to security forces.

This incident has raised public debate and brought to light challenges faced by security institutions in eliminating cult influence. The Imo Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to professional policing aligned with constitutional mandates as investigations continue.
