Rhety, who recently was alleged to have set her husband Lieutenant Samson on fire, has come forward to explain the circumstances leading to the incident.
Rhety revealed that since their marriage in April, her husband had subjected her to repeated physical abuse, which she says led to a miscarriage. Despite her suffering, she stayed silent for fear that reporting him could jeopardize his military career.
On September 22, after Lieutenant Samson dropped her off from work, tensions escalated. According to Rhety, Samson’s elder brother instructed him to leave their room so he could “frustrate” her.
The brother purchased a new mattress and decided to place it in a nearby store that happened to contain a keg of petrol. As Samson moved the mattress, he accidentally spilled petrol from the keg. Rhety claims he then threatened to set her ablaze with a lighter. She attempted to report the threats to his commanding officer, but the calls went unanswered.
During a moment of tension, she jokingly told her husband she would record him and post it on TikTok, when suddenly he caught fire.Rhety insists that she is not responsible for the fire.
Military sources have so far declined to comment, due to the ongoing investigations. Further updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
