The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has warned that voters in the northern region will resist any attempts at vote-buying by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
He warned supporters of President Bola Tinubu that underestimating the resolve of the north would be a grave political miscalculation.
In a statement released on his official Facebook page on Sunday, Baba-Ahmed dismissed the target of the ruling party to win Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Borno, Yobe, Kwara, Kaduna, Plateau, Kogi, and Nasarawa states.
The Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is structuring its campaign strategy around an unprecedented distribution of funds to sway the electorate.
The PRP Chairman stated that financial inducements would not erase the grievances the region holds against the government.
He urged northern voters to protect their democratic rights at the polls.
“We know they will share money that has never been seen distributed in politics. Their problem is undermining the northerners,” Baba-Ahmed stated.
He also accused the administration of inflicting hardship, urging the electorate not to be swayed by monetary gains.
“They are the ones that can sell us, let us forget the humiliation and disgrace that was done in Tinubu’s regime,” he added.
Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed stated that northern voters will demonstrate that their dignity cannot be purchased ahead of the 2027 elections. He added that the outcome of the polls must show the true choices made by the voters.
The PRP chairman warned against any attempts to manipulate or overturn the results of the forthcoming elections.
He challenged the supporters of the president and the ruling party to prepare for a serious political contest, stating that the opposition is ready to face the APC at the ballot box.
“As for those carrying the banner of Tinubu and the APC, you are welcome. Here we are, and here you are. Let the contest begin. May Allah deliver us from oppressors,” Baba-Ahmed concluded.
