The Zamfara State Government has approved a large-scale financial inclusion initiative to distribute Dangote Group shares to 36,176 residents across the state.
The economic empowerment programme aims to expand the access of citizens to national corporate investments and foster long-term financial independence.
Coordinated by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Salisu Musa Tsafe Kainuwa, the scheme will allocate approximately 20 shares to each beneficiary through the Dangote Initial Public Offering (IPO). Gusau, the state capital, will receive 4,522 slots, while the remaining 13 local government areas are allocated 2,261 beneficiaries each.
The State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Relief Matters confirmed that the grassroots selection process accommodates persons with disabilities to ensure total inclusivity. Governor Dauda Lawal reveals plans to launch other socio-economic intervention program targeting youths and women.
The state government, however, is yet to disclose the total financial outlay and the exact distribution mechanism for the empowerment scheme.
