The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has announced the arrest of a wanted Nigerian, Ikechukwu N., by authorities in Argentina.

‎Ikechukwu had been on INTERPOL’s wanted list for allegedly masterminding numerous romance scams affecting thousands of women worldwide. He was also suspected of leading a global cybercrime network operating from West Africa.

‎The Argentine authorities’ capture marks the first arrest of a Red Notice fugitive under the INTERPOL Silver Notice pilot project launched earlier this year.

‎The INTERPOL explained that the arrest occurred during Operation Jackal, launched in 2025 to trace and recover criminal assets linked to organized crime groups in West Africa.

‎This operation involves collaboration between police forces from various countries, including @PFAOficial and @seguridadpsa, with support from international agencies such as IFCACC, FIS, and INTERPOL Brazil.

‎INTERPOL mentioned that similar crackdowns have resulted in arrests across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, aiming to dismantle cyber-enabled crime networks operating transnationally.
