Senator Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has delivered a message amid rising tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking on the eve of the forthcoming National Convention, he insisted the party will no longer tolerate disruptive elements undermining unity.

The controversy has deepened following demands from a faction associated with Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who set fresh conditions for a peaceful convention. Known as the Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP, this group reviewed party dynamics and backed the zoning committee’s earlier conclusions. They advocated the continuation of the current zoning arrangement while strongly opposing micro-zoning tactics, believing it crucial to preserving stability. The coalition also pressed for the National Chairman’s role to remain allocated to the North-Central zone, honoring the 2021 convention’s blueprint.

Governor Mohammed responded decisively, declaring that the party’s resolutions must stand and assert that its leaders are neither intimidated nor complacent.

We cannot continue to keep quiet and allow people to take us to the slaughterhouse. We refuse to remain silent and let forces drag us toward failure. This ends now. We are unafraid and fully capable of overcoming internal disruptions. The era of tolerating disregard has passed. Enough is enough…the pedigree and capacity of the Convention Committee leadership are unquestionable as they have successfully managed similar processes before. We stand firmly with the National Working Committee and recognize the sacrifices involved. Our responsibility is to prevent this party from stumbling into danger. We will work tirelessly to maintain order and unity

He praised the Convention Committee’s leadership team for their proven expertise and commitment, expressing confidence in their ability to manage the event successfully once again.

The governor described efforts by the National Working Committee as commendable sacrifices in steering the party through turbulence. However, he emphasized that the moment has arrived to show strength and resilience.

Mohammed also outlined a collective vow among the governors and party executives to uphold discipline and reject any form of disrespect or manipulation.
