Former NUJ Chair Asma’u, loses mother

Hajiya Fatima Sa’eedu Usman, mother of former Kaduna State NUJ Chairperson Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu, has passed away at the age of 82.

Her death was announced on Tuesday, drawing condolences from media colleagues, family members, and well-wishers.

Her funeral prayer (Jana’iza) is scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Masallacin Misbahu in Unguwan Rimi Low-Cost, Kaduna. The family has called on the public to join in prayers for the repose of her soul.

Among her six surviving children is Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu, a prominent media personality and former chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council.

Prayers have poured in for the late matriarch, with many seeking Allah’s mercy for her. “May God Almighty forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus,” a family statement read.
