The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jigawa State Command, seized 1,300 kilograms of illicit drugs in Q2 2025, intensifying efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking across the state’s 27 local government areas.

NDLEA Jigawa State Commander Musa Maina announced the seizure during a press briefing in Dutse on Thursday, part of activities marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking. The operation spanned from April 2025 to date.

Maina expressed gratitude to security agencies, NYSC members, students, and community groups for their support, emphasizing that collective efforts are vital in curbing the drug menace. The command conducted an enlightenment rally in Dutse to raise public awareness about drug abuse risks.

Khadi Bashir Birnin-Kudu, Chairman of the Committee on Drug Abuse and Control, highlighted the severe consequences of drug abuse, urging citizens to abstain for their well-being. He stressed the importance of public cooperation in creating a safer, healthier environment.

The NDLEA’s ongoing operations, supported by community engagement, aim to yield long-term benefits for Jigawa. Maina reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to vigilance, ensuring sustained efforts to eradicate drug-related issues in the state.
